Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz have arrived in Venice in preparation for the premiere of his highly anticipated film Queer next week.

The British actor showed off his new look with long blonde locks as he walked through Marco Polo Airport with Rachel en route to the Venice Film Festival in the city.

The 56-year-old James Bond star has been surprising fans in recent months with his new haircut, which is likely intended for his upcoming film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

He kept the rest of his outfit simple: a white T-shirt and jeans, while Rachel looked equally chic in a black dress and sunglasses.

Daniel is in town to promote his new film Queer, which premieres at the festival on September 3.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and based on the semi-autobiographical novella by William Burroughs, Queer stars Craig as American expat and war veteran William Lee, who is romantically involved with a younger man, Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), a drug addict and discharged naval officer.

Early reviews indicate that filmgoers will be shocked by the explicit nature of some key moments in the film.

One scene that has been talked about a lot is the one where Craig has oral sex with Allerton.

Venice Film Festival president Alberto Barbera said he thinks Craig has given “the best performance of his life” in Queer, and he would be surprised if we don’t see the British actor at next year’s Academy Awards.

It would be Craig’s first Oscar nomination ever.

The 81st Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia and will take place at the Lido di Venezia from August 28 to September 7, 2024.

Sigourney Weaver will receive the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award during the festival.

George Clooney is already in town, along with wife Amal, for the premiere of his highly anticipated new film Wolfs, the Jon Watts-directed heist thriller that reunites him with Oceans 11 co-star Brad Pitt.

Both George and Brad will be attending the September 1 screening.

Another major screening is Joker: Folie à Deux on September 4. The sequel’s premiere will welcome stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga to the red carpet in Venice.

Venice regulars Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton are in town for Pedro Almodóvar’s English-language debut The Room Next Door, while Nicole Kidman screens her erotic thriller Babygirl on August 30.

Pupi Avati’s The American Backyard will close the festival on September 7.
