Coco Gauff continues to fight for her first Olympic gold medal after beating Argentina’s Maria Lourdes Carle on Monday.
The American won in three sets, 6-1, 6-1, to advance to the third round.
She hopes to perform well again in her next match against Donna Vekic from Croatia.
On Sunday, the 20-year-old became the youngest American woman to win a singles match at the Olympics since Venus Williams in 2000, when she defeated Ajla Tomljanovic.
And her American teammates also impressed on Sunday: Danielle Collins, Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula all won their matches and advanced.

Gauff, who was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony along with Lebron James, is participating in the Olympic Games for the first time.
She was selected for the rescheduled 2021 Tokyo Games but missed the tournament after contracting COVID.
Her victory on Monday came after she revealed that her entire team had left the Olympic Village to go to a hotel.
On Saturday, she posted a candid TikTok video exposing the conditions athletes are subjected to at the brand-new $1.6 billion complex, including ten women sharing just two bathrooms.

And when a fan pointed out that she herself would be moving to a hotel, Gauff revealed that her teammates had indeed left.
“All the tennis girls, except me, have moved to a hotel. So now there are only 5 girls with two bathrooms,” she replied.
Gauff said she is enjoying her time in the village, which will host thousands of athletes from around the world over the next two weeks.
“Well, it’s only 5 girls now, so I have the room to myself. The roommates are very relaxed. I love it,” she added.
