President Joe Biden will give an interview to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos later this week, his first since the president’s much-criticized performance during last week’s debate.
Portions of the interview will air Friday on ABC’s “World News Tonight,” while the extended interview will air first on the network’s Sunday morning program “This Week,” the network said Tuesday.
There has been a private discussion within Biden’s campaign about what they can do to counter last Thursday’s debate, where the raspy president gave a series of convoluted and incomplete answers. It has led to some questions about whether the 81-year-old president should continue his campaign.
The Washington press also regularly complained that Biden gave relatively few interviews or press conferences as president.
