‘Ben Shephard finally resurfaces after MISSING his Good Morning Britain appearance after watching England in the Euros final

Ben Shephard has finally resurfaced in Germany after an unfortunate coincidence caused him to miss an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning.

The 49-year-old This Morning presenter had watched England take on Spain in the 2024 European Championship final in Berlin the night before with good friend Chris Kamara.

After a long evening, despite the Three Lions losing 2-1, Ben slept through his planned virtual reunion with former co-star Kate Garraway on GMB.

Kate and co-host Richard Madeley had told ITV viewers earlier that morning that Ben would be returning to the show.

However, former England manager Sam Allardyce, 69, and former England player John Terry, 43, managed to appear via video links from their respective homes in Bolton and Surrey, but Ben was nowhere to be seen.

Before Kate gave viewers a recap of England’s defeat, she took a swipe at her boyfriend Ben, saying: ‘We were going to invite Ben Shephard as well but it looks like he’s having the day off.

“He hasn’t woken up this morning. We’re going to see if we can wake him up.”

She then joked to Sam and John, “Feel free to make fun of both of him as you talk. I know you know him very well.”

However, this afternoon, Ben let us know he is safe and sound when he shared an Instagram selfie with Chris and Rylan Clark.

Ben left GMB after ten years as a presenter with his good friend Kate, to join Cat Deeley as the new permanent presenter of This Morning in February.

Ben and Cat are currently enjoying a seven-week break from This Morning, just four months after they got the job.

The new presenters have been guests on ITV’s daytime programme since March 11 and are said to receive an annual salary of £555,000.

Now they are gone for almost two months because of the show’s annual summer break, during which time guest presenters are hired to lead the show.

Prince William and Prince George were also stunned when the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain

Friday favourites Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary open the summer shows from Monday 15 July, with a number of familiar faces returning to the sofa.

Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett will also be presenters, while new mother Sian Welby is also returning to the broadcaster after having daughter Ruby last month.

Ben and Cat return to ITV’s flagship daytime programme on 2 September, while Alison and Dermot will be back on the Friday night show from 6 September.

Millions of fans had flocked to the bars and pubs in the hope that England would finally secure their first victory since the 1966 World Cup.

And super sub Cole Palmer gave the nation confidence when he scored an equaliser in the 73rd minute after his team had fallen behind early in the second half.

It prompted wild celebrations among drinkers, with beers thrown into the air and fans chanting “It’s coming come.” At Berlin’s Olympiastadion, Prince William and his son, Prince George, pumped their fists in joy.

But the country’s hopes and expectations were dashed minutes later when Spaniard Mikel Oyarzabal fired the winning goal past Jordan Pickford in the 86th minute.
