A young barber in Pattaya faced a frightening ordeal when a black Ford pickup truck suddenly accelerated and crashed into him while he was depositing money at an ATM.
The incident occurred yesterday evening, November 18, when the driver fled the scene immediately, leaving the victim injured and shaken. The police in Bang Lamung are now actively pursuing the case, examining CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The barber, 28 year old Virut, recounted the terrifying experience to the media. He explained that at approximately 11pm, he was standing at an ATM near a bank on Soi Nern Plub Wan, Nong Prue, in the Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri, when the incident took place. The black, four-door Ford pickup was parked with its engine running in front of the bank.
Without warning, the driver accelerated, hitting Virut from behind, and propelling him violently against the ATM. Residents quickly rushed to his aid and attempted to engage with the driver, who refused to exit the vehicle. Ultimately, the driver reversed the truck and fled towards Sukhumvit Road, showing no regard for the consequences of his actions.
Virut, who was visibly distressed, provided additional details about the vehicle involved. He described it as a black, four-door Ford pickup with a licence plate starting with ขธ, though he could not recall the full registration number.
Following the incident, he promptly filed a report with Bang Lamung Police Station and awaited the results of the CCTV footage investigation from the bank, which is anticipated to take at least two weeks.
Meanwhile, surveillance cameras from nearby locations captured the suspicious vehicle driving past at 10.52pm, before it turned into the area where the incident occurred. The footage later showed the truck leaving the scene at around 11.37pm.
In a statement, Virut expressed his desire for the perpetrator to take responsibility for the harm caused, both physically and emotionally. He urged police to expedite the process of tracking down the driver to prevent similar incidents from happening to others.
Bang Lamung Police are actively following up on leads from the CCTV evidence and have requested the public’s assistance. Anyone who spots a vehicle matching the description is encouraged to provide information to the police station, reported KhaoSod.
