This is when a CNN reporter began the unenviable task of describing Donald Trump’s comments about Arnold Palmer’s masculinity.
The footage showed political correspondent Steve Contorno attempting to summarize remarks he delivered moments earlier at the former president’s rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
Trump spoke for twelve minutes about the late golf great, who died in 2016 at the age of 87.
The late golfer, often regarded as the greatest of all time, was born in suburban Pittsburgh, and Trump in turn told the crowd he was well-endowed. As proof, the Republican – himself an avid golfer – pointed to reports from other golfers who shared the shower with the local legend.
Contorno reported from the scene at the MAGA meeting and explained what he had just heard. He said the speech started off “quite interestingly,” as he held back an apparent laugh.

‘[Trump] began with a long-winded story about Latrobe, Pennsylvania-born Arnold Palmer,” the political reporter begins, visibly and audibly spoiled by the anecdote just offered.
‘[This included] – and I’m not making this up – a description of the Hall of Fame golfer in the men’s room, in the locker room, and what he looked like in the shower.”
Contorno quickly moves on to two other comments from Trump, seemingly eager to move on to a different topic.
“He then went on to discuss what his hair looked like in his comb regiments,” the journalist said.
“And then he also accused Joe Biden, a Catholic, of targeting Catholic-Americans.”
Contorno then makes way for a series of excerpts from Trump’s speech to carry on the rest of the conversation — choosing not to touch the subject of Palmer’s dick again.
The comments surrounding the late major winner’s masculinity, meanwhile, were somewhat short-sighted and caused the assembled crowd of supporters to let out a series of laughs as they listened in.

He continued, “When he went to take a shower with the other pros, they came out of there and said, ‘Oh my God. That’s incredible.’

As the salacious tidbit provoked a reaction, the ex-commander in chief concluded: “I had to say it, I had to say it.”
Trump, meanwhile, did not reveal his sources at a rally where former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown also addressed the crowd.
Since his retirement, Brown has criticized the “crazy” media’s coverage of the upcoming election, which at the time of writing is still 15 days away.
The wide receiver then mocked Kamala Harris’ vice presidential pick Tim Walz, which Harris and co. has advertised as the campaign’s coach because of his history as a high school football and basketball coach in Minnesota.
The 36-year-old Brown then said: ‘He’s not a real football coach. He couldn’t guard me.’
He then compared his own rise as a sixth-round draft pick among the league’s best to Trump’s own improbable rise as he looks to secure a second stint in the Oval Office next month.
Palmer, meanwhile, died just weeks before Trump was elected in 2016, not long after posing for a photo with the political outsider during a round of golf.
However, the late golf icon would later say he was “shocked” by the incoming president during his inaugural campaign, according to his family – who told Sporty news in 2018 that he ‘couldn’t believe the rudeness’ of the then nominee.
Palmer, meanwhile, died just weeks before Trump was elected in 2016, not long after posing for a photo with the political outsider during a round of golf.

On Sunday, after Trump’s comments went viral, a daughter of the conservative golfer came forward to say she was not upset by the comments.
‘There’s not much to say. I’m not really upset,” Peg Palmer Wears, 68, told The Associated Press.
However, she added: “I think it was a bad choice to commemorate my father, but what are you going to do?”
When asked three times on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday what he thought of Trump’s tangent, House Speaker and Trump ally Mike Johnson did not respond.
“I’ll discuss it, let me answer it,” Johnson told host Jake Tapper before not answering. ‘Don’t say it again. We don’t have to say it. I understand.’
He then claimed that it was normal for Trump to share such crazy stories while on the campaign trail, telling Tapper, “When President Trump is at a rally, he sometimes speaks for two hours straight.
‘You doubt his stamina, his mental acuity? Joe Biden couldn’t keep that up for five minutes.”

“That’s how you started this segment. You said, “What if Biden participated in such a meeting?” Johnson continued.
‘He couldn’t fill the room. Donald Trump does that because they see him as a change agent.”
Trump is now campaigning in Michigan, where Harris is also holding rallies. The elections are still fifteen days away.
