Australian basketball legend Brad Newley has scored a major property victory by selling his Adelaide investment property for an impressive $1,711,500.
Newley, 39, bought the posh three-bedroom, two-bathroom mansion in Malvern for $750,000 in 2008, giving the former Olympian $961,500 after sale.
Located just 4km from the CBD, the two-storey property features a beautiful open plan design and attractive timber finishes.
Newley, who was born in Adelaide, bought the home 16 years ago before he started his basketball career, reported The Advertiser this week.
Speaking to the publication, the former baby boomer said he was just a “young boy” when he bought the home, explaining that his father owned the block in the early 2000s.
“It was the first place I ever bought and it’s been a really good investment. I also like to think I’ve been a pretty good landlord over the years,” he said.
Highlights include the high ceilings and the spacious master bedroom with walk-in closet and en suite bathroom.
Surrounded by lush, landscaped gardens, the complex features a climate control system specially designed to withstand the city’s notoriously hot summers and cold winters.

There is also a large kitchen with a breakfast bar and adjoining dining area.
The 198 cm (6 ft 11 in) Newley rose to fame in 2003 as a member of the Australian under-19 national team, which won gold after beating Lithuania at the 2003 FIBA World Championship.

Newley was a household name in the match with his 16 points.
He played with the Boomers, who won gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
The tough star was picked to play with the Boomers for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he again put in an impressive performance. He also represented Australia on the national team at the London 2012 Olympics.
In Australia, Newley played in the NBL for the Townsville Crocodiles and later for the Sydney Kings and Melbourne United.
He retired in 2023 after playing for teams in Europe and his draft rights were acquired by NBL teams in the US, including The New York Knicks.
