Ana de Armas admitted that she once secretly skipped a friend’s wedding to take an important business call.

During a Q&A following the September 7 screening of Eden at the Toronto International Film Festival, the philanthropic star opened up about her decision to take director Ron Howard’s call after witnessing her friend get married.

The Ghosted star was keen to talk to Howard, 70, about the possibility of joining the film, which focuses on a group of people who move to a desolate area to create their own utopia.

“I never saw those people get married because I called Ron,” she said.

Do you remember that? When you then [said]“I can’t hear you,” the actress reminded her friend.

De Armas plays Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn, a self-proclaimed baroness, in this survival thriller based on a true story.

We talked about the Baroness and I said [Ron] “How I felt and all those things I imagined,” she told the audience.

The story is based on the experiences of a German philosopher who traveled to the Galapagos Islands with his lover/disciple in the late 1920s to found an experimental society.

Problems arose when others, including the opportunistic Baroness, came to the remote island for their own purposes.

The Oscar nominee admitted she was surprised by how “relatable” the story turned out to be.

“I couldn’t believe how crazy it was and how relatable it is today,” she explained.

The Blonde star joked that she thought her work as the femme fatale in Eden might be “the end of her career,” but decided to take part anyway.

‘FFrom day one there was great communication and back and forth and I thought, ‘This might be the end of my career, but I think it’s fun, so I’m going to go for it,’ she explained.

“I just really fell in love with the character.”

De Armas stars in the film alongside Sydney Sweeney, Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Bruhl and others.

It is not yet clear when Eden will be released in theaters or on streaming services.

International rights to the film were sold to Amazon Prime Video in Cannes in May, but U.S. rights have not yet been acquired.
