2024 Logie Awards: Mother and Son star Denise Scott, 69, issued brutal warning after WILD after-party antics

Stars looking for a good start after Sunday’s 2024 Logie Awards would do well to stick close to Denise Scott.

Her Mother and Son co-star Matt Okine told Ny Breaking Australia that hotel management had to warn the couple as Denise has a penchant for wild after-parties.

“The hotel should have sent out a warning,” Matt said as he stood next to Denise on the red carpet at Logies.

“They sat us down and said, ‘Look, no kicking in Denise’s room. There have been too many complaints in the past.’”

Matt added that management was concerned not only about the loud noises and late nights, but also about Denise’s tendency to deliberately destroy hotel property, just like a ’70s rock star.

“We can’t afford to buy another TV if this one gets thrown off the balcony here,” Matt said.

“So yeah, we’ll have to find another place to do it.”

Denise’s Logies’ after-party plans, however, may have a slightly more romantic twist.

“I’m going to, you know, sleep with someone, I guess. Like I usually do,” Denise joked.

Both Denise and Matt are up for prizes this year.

Matt is up for the Silver Logie for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy for his role as Arthur in the ABC reboot of Mother and Son.

Meanwhile, Denise is competing for the Silver Logie for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role as mother and son Maggie.

The show itself is also nominated for Best Written Comedy Program.

TV Tonight reported this week that the comedy series has been renewed for a six-episode second season, which will begin filming later this year.

The duo told Ny Breaking Australia that the season extension and nominations were “amazing”.

“It’s a relief, you know, we’re taking over a very, very important legacy,” Matt said.

“And to know that it’s been well received, and that there’s enough trust to, you know, come back for another one, we’re going to knock it out of the park. We can’t wait.”

The 2024 version of Mother and Son is a reboot of the classic ABC series starring Ruth Cracknell and Gary McDonald and which ran from 1984 to 1994.

It tells the story of Arthur who, after breaking up with his long-cherished girlfriend, moves back in with his widowed mother Maggie.

Denise recently opened up about undergoing 17 months of intensive treatment for breast cancer as she struggles with an ‘aggressive’ form of the disease.

The beloved Australian comedian was diagnosed with cancer in early 2023 and went public with the shocking news in August last year.

She has now detailed how she has undergone almost continuous chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the past 17 months to combat the “particularly aggressive” form of breast cancer.

“Yesterday was my last day of chemo. I have been on almost non-stop treatment for HER2 positive breast cancer for 17 months,” she shared on Facebook alongside a photo of herself in the hospital.

Denise confirmed her latest mammogram was ‘clean’ and thanked her fans for their support during this difficult time.

“At least for now the treatment has done its job,” she wrote.

‘The last mammogram was clean. I lost all my hair (in) the first round of chemo, and then I got these thin white, honestly disappointing, clumps of hair in (the) second round – a different kind of chemo.
