Warzone players have been left confused by the weapon balancing changes in the Season 4 update, arguing it’s done little to shake up the meta while nerfing guns that were already struggling.
The Season 4 update brings a whole bunch of content to Warzone, from new weapons like the FFAR 1 and LC10 to the Overlook area in Downtown Verdansk. But that’s not all, as it also comes with plenty of buffs and nerfs to the existing roster of guns.
LMGs, in particular, have been given substantial buffs that should make them more competitive. However, overall, players aren’t happy with the changes, as many feel that they won’t make enough of a difference to the “stale” meta.
Warzone players slam Season 4 buffs and nerfs
Following the release of the Season 4 patch notes, which detailed all of the balancing adjustments in the update, plenty of players took to social media to call out the changes.
Stats guru ‘Warzone Meta’ argued they’ve done very little to change the meta and that we’ll likely see the same guns dominating matches once again. “Season 4 weapon balancing update for #Warzone is a joke. Nothing is really gonna change,” they said in an X post.
The main reason players feel the meta is unlikely to change is that Assault Rifles, which are comfortably the most popular category, have been left mostly untouched. They all received bullet velocity increases, but individual weapons weren’t given any significant improvements, meaning the Krig C and Grau will still be the go-tos.
In fact, the update actually makes less competition in the AR category, as both the Kilo 141 and CR-56 AMAX were handed recoil nerfs. These two popular OG guns were incredibly strong when Verdansk returned, but have slipped down the pecking order slightly in recent weeks.
“Two guns that were already falling off hard just got slapped even more,” said one angry player on Reddit. “The Kilo arguably the worst of the OG ARs — now has more recoil deviation and gun kick. Like wtf???”
Plenty of other fans agreed, calling the changes “pointless” and claiming that the update actually makes matches less varied.
“The only thing the Kilo had going for it was accuracy. Nerfing it is stupid as hell,” said one reply, while another added: “Giving Kilo and Amax more visual recoil is legitimately the stupidest thing they could’ve done.”
We’ll likely get even more weapon balancing updates throughout Warzone Season 4, so fans will be hoping that the meta becomes more competitive in the coming weeks.
