“The Labour Party is afraid to mention it” – Stephen Fry said BREXIT was catastrophe on Laura Knusberg show on BBC.

Justice Secretary Alex Chalk says “approximately” 40 prisoners have been moved from HMP Wandsworth after Daniel Khalife’s escape
Chalk tells Laura Kuenssberg security protocols were in place at Wandsworth prison on day of the escape – but an inquiry will find out if they were followed
Khalife escaped last Wednesday and was recaptured on a canal towpath in north-west London on Saturday.

Elsewhere, US chair of joint chiefs of staff Gen Mark Milley says Ukraine has little more than 30 days left of fighting before the weather hinders its counter-offensive
But “Ukraine is winning and Russia is losing,” the UK’s defence chief Admiral Sir Tony Radakin says.

Wandsworth prison is ‘pretty squalid place’ – Fry
Earlier in the programme, Laura Kuenssberg asked Stephen Fry about his time in prison. He was remanded for a few months after getting into trouble as a teenager.

He has spent some time working in HMP Wandsworth as a volunteer on its inmate-run radio station.

“It’s a pretty squalid place. It’s crowded, it’s not very happy.”

He also talks about theatre companies which stage performances in prisons, which he says are “charming efforts to help raise the happiness levels of some very unhappy people”.

It’s a pretty grim situation overall, with a lot of overspill and many prisoners waiting to be sent to the right category of prison, he says.

Stephen Fry on Brexit: “Brexit, we must mention Brexit. The Labour Party is afraid to mention it. It was a catastrophe and everybody knows it deep in their bones…they know it, of course they do, and certainly the rest of the world does”.
