VIDEO: Pastor Jimmy Odukoya defend his dreadlocks, tattoos and wearing of armless clothes during interview with the BBC

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Pastor Jimmy Odukoya defend his dreadlocks, tattoos and wearing of armless clothes during interview with the BBC.

Jimmy’s dressing ideally should be good enough on the pulpit and on a good day, dressing is a choice. Tattoos are his right. Dreads are a choice and some dreads even come natural. Not everyone locks their hairs to grow artificial dreads. No one should castigate him therefore for wearing dreads. He is within is rights to make his choices. He has also come out to say in a BBC interview that he found approval for his looks and calling in the scriptures. Fair enough.
But why is the public up at virtual sword pointing over his appearance on the pulpit?

The lead pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Lagos, Jimmy Odukoya, has defended his decision to wear dreadlocks, saying it does not affect his pastoral calling or violate the Bible.

Jimmy was last Sunday announced as the senior pastor of the church by the ministry’s board of trustees following the death of his father, Taiwo Odukoya in line with his wishes.

Shortly after his announcement as new pastor, social media users widely commented on his movie roles as an actor and his dreadlocks and looks generally.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy chapter 3 that “anyone that seeks the job of an (Church) Overseer or Bishop must be of good conduct, must be a husband of one wife, must be sound in mind, must be orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, not a drunkard, not violent, but reasonable, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money”.

But speaking in an exclusive interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Jimmy explained that several personalities in the Bible had long hair and beards.

He maintained that people’s personal opinions about his dreadlocks differ from what constitutes sin.

“As for my dreads, that matter is long. People don’t know that everything i do, i can back it up with scripture, everything I do is in the Bible. Let’s look at the Bible, do you want to tell me that long hair is wrong? You know God told Samson not to cut his hair. It’s still the Bible. That means, long hair is not a bad thing.
