Beloved Photographer Oupa “Phias the Photographer” Mhlanga Tragically Passes Away in Car Accident
The Mhlanga family is devastated by the untimely loss of their beloved son, Oupa Mhlanga, affectionately known as “Phias the Photographer,” who tragically passed away in a car accident in Riverside, Mbombela, on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
The accident occurred at the R40 and R37 intersection at approximately 04:14. A video circulating on social media shows the Mercedes-Benz, in which Phias was an occupant, colliding with the rear of an articulated truck as it turned onto the R37. Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, stated that an investigation is underway, with preliminary findings suggesting speeding as a possible factor in the crash.
