Kanye West waits on no one. Fans experienced this firsthand at the world premiere of “Vultures,” his long-awaited collaborative album with Ty Dolla Sign under the name ¥$. Just a day after he premiered cuts from the project guerilla-style at a Jamaican restaurant in Miami, he took over Wynwood Marketplace in the same city for the Vultures Rave, with a promised start time of midnight.

Nearly two-and-a-half hours later, West and Ty finally assumed the spotlight after stagehands struggled to hook up West’s phone to the audio system. Viewers at home witnessed it all in real time as a stream on YouTube glitched and restarted numerous times in the lead-up to the broadcast. Tickets for those in attendance ran $200 for general admission, $600 for VIP and $10,000 for a table.

It’s YEEZY season, once again. A year after Kanye West, now known as Ye, effectively vanished from public scrutiny, he’s shoving his way back in the spotlight with a fresh LP and a typically splashy premiere.

Vultures, the new album that Ye and Ty Dolla $ign have been working on all summer, blew through all of its prior release dates with gusto but Ye has seemingly nailed down a proper release date of December 15.

The rave will also include performances by Chris Brown and Lil Durk and is set to be livestreamed via yeezy.com. This is all to promote Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures. On Saturday, December 9, the pair made a surprise appearance at Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen, a Caribbean restaurant in Wynwood, to play snippets from the album. West also showed up at E11even with no socks or shoes on Sunday morning, December 10.

“¥ $ host a rave live streamed from Miami Design Week [sic] to debut their collaborative album ‘Vultures’ joined by Lil Durk Chris Brown to perform. ¥ $ bring music and unite communities for a subversive event,” the press release states.
