Twitter community notes confirmed: “This is not real. This screenshot is taken from a youtube video where the creator Dream shows off how easy it is to make fake dms.”
She wrote: “while what i said was 100% intended to be a joke, i see why it came off as insensitive and i apologize for that.
i also understand the current price of the cookies may be expensive for some, and promise we’ll continue to consider pricing to keep myna as affordable as possible.
“i also want to clarify that this was said towards ONE rude chatter, i did not at all intend it to be a general statement or towards my community.”
The cookies launched on Nov. 13 and are priced at $28 for a four-pack. Each pack has four smaller bags, costing $7. But they have been called too expensive, especially since fans saw similar cookies at Costco for $9.99 for 14 ounces earlier in the year. Some even said the cookies are just rebranded Costco ones, but the company denied those claims and insisted they’ve been in development for two years, according to a report from Dexerto.
The streaming star defended their price during her Nov. 18 stream. First, she called those who are saying it’s $28 per bag idiots for failing to realize it’s four bags priced at $7 each and poked fun at their maths skills.
Then, she taunted them by saying: “If you’re broke, just say so!”
Myna Snacks responded to concerns in a statement to Dexerto, saying “our product formulation is unique to Myna and exclusive to us. We can confirm the Midnight Mini Cookies were in development for two years. This process included many rounds of testing and ingredient changes.”
“We own our formula,” the streamer wrote. “The cookies they are being compared to were also made by our manufacturer, Creation Foods, which specializes in healthy food. The compared cookies had one test batch sold before they were retired. Months later, we partnered with Creation Foods and fell in love with the flavor profile of the Midnight Cookie.”
Her streaming viewers quickly criticized her reaction. One expressed their disappointment at her comments, saying they lose a lot of respect for someone who uses broke as an insult. Another added shaming people for their socioeconomic status shows she has bought into the idea that wealthy people are good and poor folks are bad.
