Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Scar Mkadinali of Wakadinali said one way of reducing femicide is by advising Kenyan women to get married by the age of 23 years.

Scar, real name Churchill Mandela, who also is one-third of the critically-acclaimed hip hop group Wakadinali, took to his Instagram page to share what many thought was an insensitive – and tone deaf – take on the runway femicide cases ravaging the country.

While appearing to blame femicide on women’s singlehood, Scar suggested that women should get married earlier to avoid the trappings of going to ‘Airbnbs and clubs’.

“One way of reducing femicide is by advising our women to get married by the age of 23 yrs.Married women rarely go to Airbnbs n clubs. This is not rocket science come on!,” he posted.

Normally rocking the mic as one-third of the Wakadinali duo, he is looking to step out on his own to leave his mark in Kenyan hip-hop.

His latest foray into working as a solo rapper was when he collaborated with Bien on the latter’s track Lifestyle and he showed his versatility, blending seamlessly with Bien’s silky vocals and style on an RnB song. Scar has numerous solo projects working with the likes of Wangechi, Lil Maina, Steph Kapella and Khaligraph Jones.

Scar will be performing at 1824 on the 11th of January and we are all wondering whether this will mark an earth-shattering declaration…

Is he going solo? That’s the question on everyone’s lips but it is a question that will go begging until he hits the stage and rocks his fans.

What about the rest of Wakadinali? Are they aware? Will they be in the house to support their own? Or is there some unspoken tension surrounding Scar’s stab at a solo performance?
