Matthew Barnett, now 26, served four months in jail after being convicted of child endangerment in 2014 for dumping a paralytic Coleman – then 14 – on her mother’s porch in freezing temperatures following a party at his home when he was 17.
Coleman, whose story was explored in the 2016 Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy, killed herself aged just 23 in August. Last week, Coleman’s mother Melinda, 58, also committed suicide at her home in Albany, Missouri, after becoming overwhelmed with grief.
Barnett has never spoken about what happened between him and Coleman at the party but admitted having what he described as consensual sex with her at trial.
