Ross Duffer confirms the final season of ‘STRANGER THINGS’ begins filming in January.
A name on the cast list is also mysteriously redacted. Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer releases a quick glimpse at the season 5 premiere episode’s call sheet, but one character has been obscured among the returning cast. The upcoming season is set to bring the Netflix show to a close after following a group of kids’ fantastical adventures since its debut in 2016. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to pick up sometime after the cataclysmic events of season 4, with Hawkins grappling with the devastation from Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) attempt to bridge the 1980s American Town with Upside Down.
It’s also possible the character is someone like Max, whose fate after nearly becoming another one of Vecna’s victims was left unclear.
Co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently unveiled Stranger Things: The First Shadow. A play that will center around Vecna, aka Henry Creel’s youth and background. The play will be the only spin-off of the show which will feature some of the characters from the show, including Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers, whereas the story arc of the young characters such as Eleven, Dustin, Will and their group of friends will conclude with season five of the show.
Duffer revealed the opening episode will focus on the existing cast, sharing an image of season 1, episode 5’s call sheet during pre-production. However, among the familiar names is one character whose name has been crossed out from the sheet using the draw feature, hinting that the surprise figure could make their debut or be reintroduced in season 5’s opening chapter.
