Controversial businessman Edwin Sodi’s upmarket mansion in Morningside, Johannesburg, is up for sale.

According to the Lynn Estate website, the asking price for he luxury 5-bed en-suit house is a whooping R75 million.

Sodi and the former African National Congress’s secretary general, Ace Magashule, will appear in court in April, along with 17 others, on charges of money laundering and corruption about the Free State tender. The tender was meant to remove asbestos from the homes of Free State residents. SowetanLIVE previously reported that although the Asset Forfeiture Unit froze his assets, he was allowed to use the house but not sell it. Sodi allegedly benefitted from tenders from the government, which were terminated in the past because of poor performance.

“Naturally elevated, this 2000 square metre home benefits from uncompromised luxury and exclusivity. Contemporary elegance embraced by generous space and natural light illuminate what seems to be the quintessential in aspirational living with world class finishes.”

Sodi, who is the CEO of Blackhead Consulting, is said to have purchased his mansion in 2014 for R40 million and embarked on some pricey renovations.
