It was two simple braids that ran down each side of Brooks’ head but what was in the middle grabbed everyone’s attention. When asked about the backstory of this design, he says, “When I was in my rookie year or sophomore year when we played Houston, I seen, you know, Gerald (Green) get the R on his head one time.” When one looks at the hair, it looks like a very difficult feat to pull off. So how did Brooks manage to do it?
Fortunately, the story doesn’t end there as Brooks further adds that it was Gerald who introduced him to the lady that made it happen. “He gave me the contact of, you know, the braider he be using and I been using her ever since I got out here and you know, I just wanted to try it out and you know, she’s amazing,” the 27-year-old star says. Kudos to the lady with the magic hands!
Brooks rocked a new hairstyle before the Rockets’ 117-104 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, sporting braided hair that formed the Rockets logo in the back. So, why other than team support did Brooks change his look prior to Wednesday’s win? After the game he credited something of a modern legend in Houston for his new style.
