During the proceeding, the state presented details of videos taken while Jackson was being held against her will. The videos reportedly show Jackson being forced to perform oral sex at gunpoint, stripped nude, handcuffed, stomped, slapped and spit upon. Each of the five defendants in court were present in a portion of the videos.
Jeremiah McDowell, Francis Harris, and Brandon Pope are the three other suspects charged in the kidnapping and murder of Mahogony Jackson. They are charged with capital murder.
Investigators said during Monday’s bond hearing that Harris is the suspect believed to have fired the fatal gunshot. A projectile was recovered from Jackson’s head.
Jackson’s family was present at Monday’s bond hearing when details of the video were given.
Authorities have not released a motive for the crime.
“This was a horrific attack perpetrated against Miss Jackson,’’ Jefferson County Deputy District Attorney Charissa Henrich said. “She was subjected for a period of time to… there’s really no other way to say it… torture which ultimately led to her death.”
“They’re shaken. They’re definitely shaken. It is one thing to hear a lot of what we call chitter chatter out there, but to be in a formal setting and hear what happened to a loved one like that could be very disheartening,” said Danny Carr, Jefferson County district attorney.
The attorneys representing the five defendants requested bond. Judge Keicha Davis said she was aware they each played separate roles, but it was a role nonetheless and denied bond for all of them.
Taken to an apartment complex, Jackson was forced to perform oral sex on one man while another held her at gunpoint and threatened her to “do it right,” police testified.
Jackson’s mother, Gloria Maddox, was in the courtroom as the litany of violent acts was described.
