Majority of women find it a “turn off” if partner listens to Joe Rogan’s podcast, a study found

Majority of women find it a “turn off” if partner listens to Joe Rogan’s podcast, a study found.

Elsewhere in the study, it was found that 9% of women consider it a red flag if a partner has no social media, 53% are unimpressed by partners who refuse to see the Barbie movie, and a whopping 66% deem it a red flag if a partner has no hobbies.

Men in the study found the biggest red flag to be a partner identifying as a Community, with 64%, with 41% being turned off by a partner who is into Astrology.

The Joe Rogan Experience is the most popular podcast in the world, with a huge audience and even a reported $100 million-plus deal for Rogan when he signed to Spotify exclusively.

He’s had all manner of people on his podcast, from different backgrounds and areas of expertise, bringing in some of the biggest celebrities, politicians, scientists and more to chat at length about their careers, lives, and beliefs.

But it is not just women who may be turned-off by Rogan. The survey finds that more than a third (35%) of men also see a red flag if their potential significant other is a Rogan listener.

On the flip side, more men see it as a plus if their potential partner listens to Rogan than women. Change Research says a quarter of 18- to 34-year-old men say it is a green flag if their potential partner listens to Rogan’s podcast. That compared to just seven percent of women who saw it the same way.

The results dovetail with political leanings. The survey shows 41% of women identify as politically progressive compared to 24% of men. And 18% of men say they are conservative, compared to 11% of women.

“This is a show that it is very easy for a lot of people to hate because it’s very good at excluding people, which means it’s kind of a velvet rope experience for the people that it appeals to,” said Sounds Profitable Partner Tom Webster. Speaking on a webinar last month, he said The Joe Rogan Experience draws “sharp lines” between those who it is for, and those who it is not. “As a result, what really should be a niche podcast is attracting that niche to the exclusion of others, and it’s become something that people love,” Webster said.
