Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Over 70 vehicles burnt beyond repair as Nigerian fire service didn’t show up for 24 hours at Eleme junction on East-West Road, in Rivers state, viral video.


Witnesses accounts had it that the incident was caused by a leakage from a petrol tanker after it crashed into another truck said to belong to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals and loaded with another type of product.

The eyewitness at the scene of incident explained that the fire engulfed many vehicles trapped in the long traffic jam, thereby burning to death occupants of the vehicles.

Another witness at the scene of incident Saturday morning, explained that the poor management of traffic by the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Eleme Junction – One axis of the East -West road led to the level of casualties.

The devastating incident happened on Friday night along the Eleme axis of the road, which has long been neglected, increasing motorists’ risks.

Reports suggest that the tragedy was triggered when a tanker, navigating the dilapidated road, was hit by another heavy-duty vehicle, igniting flames and an explosion.

The ensuing inferno engulfed more than 50 vehicles on the road at the time, with some occupants trapped and unable to escape the fire, which spread rapidly.
