MEMPHIS, TN – On Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 9:11 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at Sam’s Food Market at 1026 Mississippi Boulevard. A male victim was located in the parking lot. He had been shot several times. He was transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The video in the business showed the suspect leaving with merchandise he did not pay for. The victim attempted to stop him. While struggling over the items, the suspect fired several shots, striking the victim and killing him. The suspect fled west on Walker Avenue and north on Ford Place.

The suspect was a Black male in a black hoodie and jeans.
