Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that picture of aunty, Josephine Mokwuah, surfaced after she locked Ifunanya Mokwuah’s retired dad in a room in Enugu Nkwu with $5K pension on TikTok.
Following Ifunanya’s heartbreaking revelation about what her father’s own siblings did to him, my heart is shattered.
Peter Mokwuah, an American returnee, was reportedly held hostage in his own mansion by his siblings for nearly a year in Igbo Ukwu, Anambra State. READ MORE HERE
His daughter, Ifunanya Mokwuah, living in the United States, began to worry deeply after months of silence from her father.
Despite constant assurances from her uncle and aunt that “he’s fine,” something didn’t sit right with her spirit—so she booked a flight to Nigeria in January 2022.
Peter, who had spent 25 years working in New York before retiring to Nigeria, had built his dream mansion back home years ago.
He also receives a whopping $5,000 pension monthly, making him more than comfortable—or so she thought. Sadly, it seemed that the moment he suffered a stroke, their wicked plan kicked in.
Honestly, I won’t even rule out the possibility that they caused it.
Meanwhile, his daughter kept sending money, believing he might be in need.
When Ifunanya arrived at the village, she was met with hostility.
Her uncle Francis and aunt Josephine blocked the compound gate and lashed out at her with insults. But with the support of some brave villagers and local youths, she pressed forward.
They tried to lie, claiming her father was away in Abuja—but Ifunanya insisted on searching the house.
Upstairs, what she found was beyond shocking: her father, frail and emaciated, abandoned on a filthy mattress.
His nails were long, his beard overgrown he was barely alive, yet he recognised her and relief flooded his eyes.
Imagine how she must have felt, seeing her once-strong father in such a cruel state—despite the money he had, despite the life he built.
Thankfully, she was able to get him out of that house, moved him to Lagos for medical care, and eventually returned with him to the USA.
In all of this, one thing stands out: Peter taught his daughter the way back home.
To every parent living in the diaspora with plans to retire in your village—make sure your children know the way home.
Also, to the men who see their wives as outsiders—be warned.
Peter trusted his siblings more than his own household. And in the end, they nearly finished him. It was the child he raised, not his siblings, who came back to save his life.
To make matters worse, a new house was being built right beside the mansion he once built—it’s clear whose money was being used.
