Los Alegres del Barranco have been banned from performing in the US and had their visas revoked after they serenaded fans with a mugshot of Ruben ‘El Mencho’ Oseguera displayed across a large screen behind the stage.

The group was about to sing the narcocorrido, or drug ballad, ‘El dueño del palenque,’ at a show in Guadalajara, Jalisco on Saturday, when they suddenly blew up photos of the notorious drug cartel leader as part of their set.

The mugshots, which were taken during El Mencho’s arrests in California, were shown on screen, followed by a sketch of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel is considered the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico – and Oseguera is the country’s most wanted drug lord.

The musical group, who are in the middle of a tour in Mexico, also paid tribute to the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, who is serving a life sentence in the US.

Los Alegres del Barranco also honored El Mencho by flashing his image at a concert in Uruapan, Michoacán on Sunday night.

The performances clearly did not sit well with Trump’s administration – and on Monday, the Department of Homeland Security revoked the work and tourist visas for Armando Moreno, the group’s lead vocalist and bassist, and José Pavel Moreno, who is the backup singer and plays the accordion.
