A CCTV footage showed him sneaking into the women’s prayer hall and carrying the girl away, but fled after she fought back.
He will be remanded at the Kuala Kubu Baru magistrate’s court tomorrow, said Hulu Selangor police.
The case is being investigated for physical sexual assault on a child by touching any part of the body.
Meanwhile, Selangor Islamic Affairs chairperson Fahmi Ngah has urged worshippers to be vigilant and report similar incidents.
He stressed that any attempts to portray mosques as unsafe are unacceptable.
