Gal Gadot lied about James Gunn & Peter Safran telling her she was “in the best hands” and had “nothing to worry about” when it came to her upcoming Wonder Woman movie

Gal Gadot, reportedly lied about James Gunn & Peter Safran telling her she was “in the best hands” and had “nothing to worry about” when it came to her upcoming Wonder Woman movie.

Well, now that confusion has apparently been cleared up, only to open a whole other can of worms. Variety is reporting that despite Gadot’s claims, Wonder Woman 3 is not in development over at Warner Bros. So-described “sources with knowledge of the situation” share that Gunn and Safran have no plans at this time for any other kind of Wonder Woman-related project outside of the Paradise Lost prequel TV series that’s eventually headed to Max.

Paradise Lost Coming to Max

The only Wonder Woman-related project officially in development for the DCU is the prequel series Paradise Lost, which will be set before the birth of Diana. The show has been described as “a Game of Thrones-type story about Themyscira” that “involves all of the darkness, drama and political intrigue behind this society of only women.” Paradise Lost will be part of Chapter One of the DCU, which also includes the feature films Superman: Legacy, Swamp Thing and The Brave and the Bold and the Max streaming series Creature Commandos and Booster Gold.

Variety‘s report directly flies in the face of Gadot’s most recent declaration about her DC future. “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” Gadot told Flaunt magazine, “and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

Wonder Woman 3 was originally in development under the old DC Films regime, with Patty Jenkins and Gadot attached to return as director and lead actor, respectively. However, in December 2022, it was reported that a third solo film for Diana Prince had been scrapped following the appointment of Gunn and Safran as heads of DC Studios. So far, Gunn has announced a live-action Wonder Woman prequel series set on Themyscira but has remained silent on whether there is any truth to Gadot’s recent comments. It is possible that Gadot will be staying on as Wonder Woman in the DCU and the actor simply misunderstood that to mean the threequel was back in development.
