Celebrations as Hank Green is cancer free following remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Celebrations as Hank Green is cancer free following remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Iconic Vlog Brother and NYT bestselling author Hank Green has announced his cancer is now in remission three months after his shock Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis.

Almost three months ago to the day, on May 19, veteran internet personality Hank Green revealed his cancer diagnosis in a YouTube video. At the time, he explained how issues with enlarged lymph nodes soon led to a routine checkup. It was from a scan during said checkup that his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma was made clear.

Taking to social media, he wrote:

“Had my first post-treatment follow-up with my oncologist today and, as of right now, I am officially in complete remission.

“Chance of relapse is low, but still very present. I have a scan in three months to make sure everything’s still good.
Then we keep a close eye on it for two years and then a medium eye on it for the rest of my life. They don’t call it “cure” until five years from today.”

Author, YouTuber and VidCon co-founder Hank Green announced that he has cancer.

Hank Green, who is known for penning the books “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing” and “A Beautifully Foolish Endeavour,” as well as his YouTube channel and co-founding VidCon — a large conference for content creators — recently announced that he received a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma.

In a May 21 tweet, he said that his PET scan looked “very encouraging … with no involvement of organs outside the lymph nodes,” and that he was diagnosed with stage 2A, on-bulky disease which is, “as good as it gets.”

“Paths forward are either a pure chemo treatment or chemo and radiation, which will depend on a radiologist’s assessment of how well they can avoid doing damage to my heart and lungs while still hitting the cancer and the areas around it,” he said.

“I noticed that my lymph nodes were big. ‘It’s probably nothing. We’ll send you in for an ultrasound’ (the doctor said). Got an ultrasound. The tech in the ultrasound room was like, ‘I’m going to go get a doctor.’ That’s not what you want to have happen,” Hank Green revealed in the video.
Hank further said that upon examining his ultrasound, the doctor said that it showed the signs of a possible lymphoma. He was then asked to get a biopsy done, through which he learned that the cancer was most likely detected in the early stages.
