TimTheTatMan says Marvel Rivals community is “worse” than Overwatch 2

TimTheTatMan has claimed that the toxicity in the Marvel Rivals community is “worse” than Overwatch 2, elaborating his experience.

When Marvel Rivals was first released on December 6, 2024, many who played games of a similar genre flocked to the free-to-play 6v6 shooter, including popular streamers. At the time, it felt like a breath of fresh air, with many going on to praise the game and compare it to its competitor, Overwatch 2.

While that’s the case, however, it’s no secret that both games face several similar issues. One that’s quite prominent, as in the case of games that require you to work in a team, is toxicity.

Twitch streamer TimTheTatMan recently brought up this issue, claiming that the situation is “worse” in NetEase’s title.

As someone who has been playing since the early days of Overwatch, Tim briefly touched on the topic of toxicity between the two games in a stream, saying, “I’ve been through the Overwatch community, and they get pretty toxic… I do have to say Marvel’s community… they’re worse, bro. They’re worse than Overwatch, which is kind of wild to say that.”

He added: “You know what’s insane? When I went back on Overwatch, everyone was, like, normal. And then when I load up Marvel, everyone’s toxic, it’s bizarre.”

“It’s like all the Overwatch people that are playing still are like, chill, and normal. And then you boot up Marvel and everyone’s like ‘AHHH,’ like, just yelling in the mic, just screaming at each other, doin’ whatever, bro.”

Since the launch of Rivals, developers have been trying to alleviate toxicity and make the experience as smooth as possible by taking action against players who defy the rules, as screenshots of players getting banned for 100 years started to resurface.

Still, you’re always bound to meet someone toxic no matter what you do.

Tim isn’t the only one who has felt this way about the community, as Ninja has previously shared his experience as well.

The streamer elaborated on how he’s “done” with the game as the community has gotten too toxic. He mentioned people who would just “pick Black Widow and AFK in the spawn” and people on social media who would try to paint him in a bad light by sharing the “worst clips of a six-hour stream.”

“At the end of the day, it’s just the toxicity of my teammates that sent me over the edge. I would end the stream in just the worst mood,” he said.
