The leader of the opposition Democraric Alliance , Mr John Steenhuisen shared a media statement revealing what the opposition parties are planning to do on the 16th and 17th of August 2023 .In accordance with the leader of the DA , opposition party leaders will hold what he termed a historic National Convection on the 16th and 17th of August 2023 .

In accordance with the information that was shared ,the aim of the meeting on the 16th and 17th is to form an agreement which will seek to unseat the ANC from power in 2024 .The media statement that was shared by Mr John stated that the elections which will take place in 2024 are an opportunity for the people of South Africa to select a new government .
There was an assumption that was made in the media statement that the leading party ANC would not get the majority of the votes in the upcoming elections .However , the DA and other political parties have been meeting for the past two months , with the aim of working out an agreement which can be reached out as the parties seek to displace the ANC .
In accordance with the media statement , the national convection of the seven opposition parties will be held on the 16th and 17th of August 2023 at Emperor’s Hotel in Kempton Park .The political parties which will be part of the convection include ActionSA which is led by a former member of the DA , Mr Herman Mashaba , the Inkatha Freedom Party ,the Freedom Front Plus , the National Freedom Party , the United Independent Movement , the Spectrum National Party , and the Democratic Alliance .
