Trouble Looms For ZEP Holders as ANC Former Secretary General Call for Their Deportation

The controversial Zimbabwe exemption permit has continued to raise concern as notable individuals in the country has called for peaceful resolution of the matter, yet nothing has been done to savage the situation.

We would recall that the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday barred officials from arresting and deporting holders of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits if they do not have any valid exemption documents in their passports, according to the ruling.

The case was brought by the Helen Suzman Foundation and the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa after the minister announced the end of the programme in 2021.

In a recent development, ANC senior official known as Nomvula Mokonyane has stated during an interview that Zimbabweans “Must Go Back Home”.

According to her exact statement;

“we made a mistake, we were naive to give Zimbabweans ZEP permits, We must change our decisions drastically,” says the First Deputy Secretary General of South South African ruling party, ANC Nomvula Mokonyane.

She added that the South African Government was naive believing that South Africa belongs to all those who live in it!

In the much anticipated ruling on Wednesday, judges Colleen Collis, Gcina Malindi and Mandlenkosi Motha (writing as the court) said the minister had made no attempt to solicit representations from those affected before he took the decision.
