We know that there is no love lost between the former president Jacob Zuma and the former public protector Thuli Madonsela and all this because of what was deemed state capture. Thuli Madonsela is the one that has found that there were possibilities that there could have been state capture during the time when the former president Jacob Zuma was still the president of the country. It was also suspected that the Gupta brother were the one who have captured the state through Jacob Zuma. She is the one who made recommendations that the should be a sate capture commission to investigate possible state capture.
We have seen that even Thuli Madonsela was very vocal during the early days of the state capture commission when it comes to former president Jacob Zuma. Even when it was said that he should go to prison for defying the constitutional court order, she was one of those who supported this.
But now to a different turn of event, the former public protector seems to support the former presidebt Jacob Zuma after he got a remission for his sentence. She says that for Zuma to go back to prison was not going to serve any good purpose. Many other prisoners are going to benefit as well as they will be released but Zuma was the first one to benefit. He was only arrested for two hours and then released.
But some political parties are not happy at all about this saying that it was a plan all along to ensure that Zuma does not go to prison once more. The DA in particular is not happy about this. They say that this is all the work of the ANC to ensure that Zuma does not go back to prison. This comes at the back of the Supreme court declaring that Zuma’s medical parole was unlawful and should then go back to prison to complete his sentence.
