The brother of Senzo Meyiwa, Sfiso has finally reacted to a new judge taking over the trial from judge Tshifhiwa Maumela who was handed a suspension letter by president Cyril Ramaphosa.
Senzo Meyiwa’s brother says he welcomes the change of judge in the case of his brother’s murder. He says that the inclusion of Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng will see the real killers getting prosecuted because he does not believe that the current suspects are guilty.
His sentiments comes as one of the key witnesses who was in the house when Senzo Meyiwa was shot and later died in hospital, Zandile Khumalo had made a special request to president Cyril Ramaphosa.
Khumalo said Ramaphosa must make sure that the Senzo Meyiwa trial is fast tracked in order for justice to prevail. Many South Africans have been lamenting about how slow this case has been progressing.
Many thought that by now, the courts would have reached a verdict, but trial is to be started from scratch meaning all the progress that has been made, has gone to waste.
Senzo Meyiwa’s family has been waiting to get justice, and like many other South Africans in the same situation who have had to wait that long, argue that the country’s judiciary system could do better.
