While the Senzo Meyiwa murder case is expected to deliver more shocking news in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria this week with a new state witness, public opinion continues to urge singer Kelly Khumalo and her sister Zandile to tell the truth.

The trial took a sharp turn last week after a series of contradictions, starting with the testimony of the state’s third witness, Nthabiseng Mokete. She told the court that Zandile rushed to her car, screamed for help and urged them to call an ambulance when Meyiwa was shot.
Defence lawyers for the five accused men pointed out that this contradicted Zandile’s claim that she sought help from her mother’s best friend, Maggie Phiri, rather than Mokete, because they were not close. A fourth witness, Colonel Lambertus Stein, revealed that the fifth accused, Fisokuhle Ntuli, called Kelly twice before October 26, 2014 shooting.
Ntuli allegedly called Kelly on August 2, 2014 and October 15, 2014. The calls lasted 110 seconds and 96 seconds, respectively. Stein also revealed that police found a text message sent by Longwe Twala, the son of musician Chicco Twala, that night just after 10 p.m., which read:
“Senzo is dead. They shot him right in front of our eyes.”
This is in stark contrast to Zandile’s testimony – that Twala was not in the house when the three shots were fired, killing Senzo. Contradictions between the accounts of the occupants of the house also fueled concern about the shooting, with Khumalo testifying that three shots were fired that night, while another witness, Mthokozisi Thwala, told the court he heard two shots.
The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is moving at a very faster pace. The truth is going to come out, and anyone found lying will also be punished harshly.
