SAD NEWS: South African singer was attacked by unknown people and lost his 4 front teeth

Upcoming hip-hop artist from Cape Town, Luvo “Jiji” Martin, was brutally attacked by unknown people who pelted him with stones, resulting in the loss of four teeth.

This incident happened when the singer was on his way home from the studio before nine o’clock on Monday night. Remembering this horrific incident Martin expressed shock and said “It was a busy day in the township and I never thought that I would be attacked where I was born. These attackers came to me and told me that I think I am better than other people.”

When Martin tried to understand what they were accusing him of, the situation quickly escalated and his attackers hit him with a lot of bricks. “When they attacked me, they kept telling me that I was a star and they were going to teach me a lesson about not being better than others, they hit me in the face and I fell to the ground. After that it just went dark,” said Martin. Shockingly, the attackers continued to attack Martin while he was lying defenseless on the ground.

Trying to find an explanation for this attack, he said: “I believe that those who attacked me were threatened by my work. They probably knew that I was about to release an album and the attack was an attempt to destroy my confidence because I no longer look the way I did before.” Martin faces a difficult fundraising task to restore his smile and regain his confidence. “This incident has ruined my life. I’m always hiding because I used to have a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh but now I can’t even look at myself in the mirror without crying. I can’t sing like this,” he said.

Martin did not report the incident to the police because he did not see his attackers. “The sad truth is that I didn’t see who they were. Going to the police station would have wasted my time because they would be looking for people I don’t even know, where would they start?”

The Secretary of the Nyanga Community Policing Forum, Dumisani Qwabe expressed concern about the victim’s decision not to report the incident. He said that not reporting crimes interferes with the collection of accurate crime statistics in certain areas. “People must come forward and report incidents like these at the police station because in this way law enforcement can start investigations in the right places, if the cases are not reported, we will have inaccurate statistics which leaves the citizens unaware of the extent of crime,” he said.
