President Mnangagwa Dragged after Saying He Bought a $420,000 Worth of Helicopters for $10 Million

After President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government enthusiastically took delivery of 18 of the 32 helicopters procured from Russia yesterday, pertinent questions are beign asked why a country with public hospitals which are empty shells and death traps would buy that instead of getting some urgent life-saving machines, equipment and drugs.

Officials say the helicopters will be used for ambulance, disaster management, policing and wild life protection duties.

Many Zimbabwean citizens are currently demanding an explanation to this skewed priority arrangement executed by the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa?

The world’s most popular helicopter, the Robinson R44, costs US$420,000 brand new, and only half of that for second-hand.

A top-of-the-range “AgustaWestland” Grand costs US$6 million.

Yet the Zimbabwean government claimed their procured the helicopters for a whopping US$10 million. This is daylight robbery of public funds.

Real looting!

Zimbabwe doesn’t need helicopters, it needs working radiotherapy machines, it needs working MRI machines, it needs working X-Ray machines, it needs maternity theaters, it needs medicines in hospitals.

It is also pertinent for the government of Zimbabwe to prioritize real issues affecting Zimbabweans instead of spending so much money on items that would benefit a smaller percentage of the society.
