Oscar Mabuyane unveils new hospital in Eastern Cape

On Friday, Oscar Mabuyane, the Premier of the Eastern Cape, will officially inaugurate a fresh new hospital that has amenities that are on par with the most recent technological advances and that cost several millions of rand. This comes at a time when the province is having trouble finding enough personnel and resources to provide adequate medical treatment to the patients who are being treated in its facilities.

According to Mabuyane, the recently built medical facility has a cutting-edge radiology department, housing for the personnel, and a brand new helipad that may be used for the transportation of emergency referrals. The building of the R680 million facility is the responsibility of the infrastructure development project that is being managed by the Department of Health. Because each of the hospital’s general wards contains 100 beds, as well as the infectious disease ward, which contains 20 beds, the facility is in a position to enhance the standard of medical treatment available in the surrounding area.

In spite of the millions that were put into this brand new facility, the vast majority of medical facilities located around the province still lack the required personnel and resources. This is despite the fact that millions were spent into the brand new facility. According to Mabuyane, the new facility is an essential component of the nation’s efforts to get ready for the rollout of the National Health Insurance (NHI).
