A public tiff between minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni and national executive committee member Mduduzi Manana seems to have escalated.
Ntshavheni conĀfronĀted ManĀana about removĀing her name from the list of NEC deployĀees to womenās league conĀferĀences. She accused ManĀana of using the conĀferĀence to ādealā with her and told him she was capĀable of doing the same.
This conĀfrontĀaĀtion folĀlows sevĀeral claims that ManĀana was misĀusĀing his posĀiĀtion as head of organĀising for facĀtional advances, includĀing at the recent ANC Youth Leagueās national conĀferĀence where he was accused of gross interĀferĀence that bordered on stealĀing the conĀferĀence.
The conĀfrontĀaĀtion with Ntshavheni took place at midĀnight after Baleka Mbete delivered her report on the state of the strucĀture and the counĀtry that lasĀted almost two hours.
Former minĀisĀter of social develĀopĀment Bathabile Dlamini and deputy minĀisĀter in the PresĀidĀency SisĀisi Tolashe were vying for the ANCWL presĀidĀency.
NomĀinĀaĀtion and votĀing was expecĀted to take place yesĀterĀday.
Moments after NEC and task team memĀbers left the stage folĀlowĀing Mbeteās speech, Ntshavheni came across the floor towards ManĀana and told him she was there merely as a guest as he had removed her name from the list. A visĀibly shocked ManĀana tried to hug Ntshavheni, but she charged on.
āYou have made it clear that you are going to deal with me, and itās fine. I can also do the same, I can also deal with you emasebeni [in the branches],ā she said.
DurĀing the conĀfrontĀaĀtion, Ntshavheni said she had made it clear to ManĀana not to assign her to the ANC Youth League conĀferĀence because she wanted to be a deployee to this weekĀendās womenās league gathĀerĀing.
Some NEC memĀbers tried to calm the situĀation, includĀing Mondli GunĀgubele and David Mahlobo, but to no avail. A visĀibly angry Ntshavheni told ManĀana that she did not take kindly to his decision to remove her name from a list of deployĀees and that if it was a battle he wanted she was more than willĀing.
ManĀana tried to defend himĀself, telling Ntshavheni that the list of deployĀees to the conĀferĀence had to be changed sevĀeral times as there were names on it of people who had no busiĀness attendĀing.
