But a Zimbabwean national has come out to blame the ANC for supporting ZanuPF. According to the Twitter user, “You are not Tired of us yet. We are going to marry your brothers and sisters and make little nephews and nieces for you. We will be together for 5 years. It’s high time you start tolerating us. We are here to stay”.

Several international election observer missions and diplomatic missions have published statements after Zimbabweans cast their votes in the elections held on Wednesday, 23 August. The Southern African Development Community (SADC), the British Embassy in Harare, and the US Embassy in Zimbabwe all released statements calling for a free, fair, and credible election. The highest-ranking Republican Senator in the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee also issued a statement expressing concern about the potential for electoral fraud.

The SADC Election Observation Mission to Zimbabwe’s Harmonised Elections published a joint preliminary statement on Friday, 25 August. However, the mission said that it was too early to say whether these irregularities had affected the outcome of the election.
