Former MPs Eager for Dialogue in Swaziland

Former Members of Parliament (MPs) have praised His Majesty King Mswati III for promising Sibaya discussion following the general elections. The head of state told the people that a discussion will take place immediately after the general elections, when emaSwati would have the opportunity to voice their concerns at the cattle byre at Ludzidzini, as is customary in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Former Ndzingeni MP Lutfo Dlamini stated one of the King’s speech’s highlights was the topic of discussion. The former legislator emphasized that the chance for dialogue was exactly what the country needed right now to reflect on where it was coming from and where it wanted to go in the future. “The King also highlighted that we need to put the country first before anything and that is of utmost importance. It will help no one to destroy the very things that we will need after the dialogue, so we ought to put our differences aside and build from here,” he explained.

Former Siphocosini Inkhundla MP Mduduzi Matsebula emphasized the need for the country to draw from its collective knowledge via dialogue, as proclaimed by the King. “This is the right time for us to rebuild our country politically, economically and socially. It is of significance for the country to remember where we come from and we ought to put our differences aside and move forward collectively,” he remarked.

Strydom Mpanza, a former Shiselweni II MP, agreed with the King on the importance of choosing persons with First World mentalities in order to place the Kingdom of Eswatini in that category. “We need a government that will carry the country forward and that entails electing people with a vision to bring exceptional development. My other prayer is that every group in society be well represented, so that there is balance in authority as the King wished,” he proposed.
