Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Co-founder and Deputy President Floyd Shivambu led the funeral procession of Mavothane Moses Mazamolela, who passed away after an unfortunate fall at First National Bank Stadium at the EFF’s 10th Anniversary Rally. The coffin of Mazamolela was carried by EFF members wearing military uniform with the EFF logo. This was a departure from the party’s usual red t-shirts, and it was seen as a way to honor Mazamolela’s service to the party.
The funeral was held in Sebokeng, Gauteng, and was attended by hundreds of EFF supporters. Shivambu gave a eulogy in which he praised Mazamolela’s commitment to the EFF and his dedication to fighting for the rights of the poor and marginalized.
Mavothane was a true revolutionary,” Shivambu said. He was always willing to put his life on the line for what he believed in. He will be deeply missed by the EFF and by all who knew him. The comments section of the article was filled with tributes to Mazamolela. One commenter said, “Thank you very much EFF SouthAfrica for giving this fighter a great respectful send off that he had desired to deserve. May God be with his family.”
Another commenter said, “When a person passes on going to attend church conference or soccer game or political rally it doesn’t make any difference about this breadwinner. What surprises me most is that in churches collection and tithe are made but church can’t assist?”
The funeral of Mavothane Moses Mazamolela was a fitting tribute to a fallen comrade. The EFF’s decision to honor him in military uniform was a powerful statement of their commitment to his legacy.
