Check What People Notice About This Photo That Left People Talking and Asking questions.

The ANC, the ruling party of South Africa, faces a dilemma over the retirement age of its ministers and parliament members. The party’s constitution sets the retirement age for ANC office-bearers at 60 years, but this does not apply to those in government positions.

This creates a situation where some senior ANC leaders, such as Naledi Pandor, Gwede Mantashe, and Cyril Ramaphosa, are over 60 years old and still hold key cabinet and parliament positions. Some critics argue that the ANC should enforce a uniform retirement age for all its members, regardless of their deployment, to allow for generational renewal and fresh leadership.

However, others defend the ANC’s decision to retain its experienced and seasoned leaders, saying that they bring stability and wisdom to the government. The ANC has not announced any plans to review or amend its retirement policy, leaving the question of the cut-off age for its ministers unresolved.
