“Build a new party of ex-convicts” – Jacob Zuma’s ANC ally under fire for his post on Twitter

ANC veteran Tony Yengeni has expressed his unwavering support for former president Jacob Zuma, urging him to revel in the discomfort of his adversaries who had hoped to witness his return to prison. Yengeni’s remarks came in the wake of Zuma’s recent sentence remission, which sparked widespread debate and speculation across South Africa. The former president had been sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court, but his sentence was reduced to four months by the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Yengeni dismissed the notion that Zuma should be ashamed of his sentence, arguing that he had been the victim of a political witch hunt. He also accused Zuma’s adversaries of being “sore losers” who were unable to accept his victory in the recent ANC presidential election.

Yengeni went on to say that Zuma should use his newfound freedom to “revel in the discomfort of his adversaries.” He urged the former president to “continue to fight for the rights of the poor and the marginalized” and to “never give up on his vision for a better South Africa.”

Zuma’s legacy is a complex one. He is both revered and reviled for his role in the anti-apartheid struggle and his subsequent presidency. However, there is no doubt that he is a polarizing figure who continues to generate strong emotions on both sides of the political spectrum.

In addition to the points made by Yengeni, it is also worth noting that Zuma’s sentence remission has been met with mixed reactions from the South African public. Some people have welcomed the decision, while others have expressed anger and disappointment. Tell us what you think about this.
