ANC assigns former health minister Zweli Mkhize to KZN

The African National Congress (ANC) has assigned former health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize.

Mkhize was assigned to find out what really is happening in the Zulu Kingdom so that it can be resolved.

Mkhize has a strong following in KZN and many party loyalists lobbied for his candidature at the ANC elective conference.

He took on president Cyril Ramaphosa not he unfortunately lost.

This weekend conflicting reports on King Misuzulu’s health dominated headlines. A statement from Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi said the king was hospitalised in Eswatini with suspicions of poisoning.

There seems to be tension betwen King Misuzulu and Prinve Buthelezi.

Misuzulu hiy back by advising his followers not to believe everything which people say.

Royal family spokesperson Prince Afrika Zulu said the news of the king being unwell was an “orchestrated agenda” to bring the king’s fitness into question. 

The ANC in KZN released a statement divulging that they would be sending Mkhize to Misuzulu’s office to quell issue.

Mkhize is yet to issue a statement about the assignment.

“We identified Dr Zweli Mkhize because he is an elder who has a cordial relationship with Prince Buthelezi, Isilo Misuzulu and the departed king Mdlokombane,” the ANC said.

Mkhize stepped down from his role as the health minister under a storm. He has done well in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic and his resignation really sparked conversation.

He is set to brief the ANC on his findings so that an amicable way can be resolved.
