Deputy President Paul Mashatile has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.
Norma Mbatha, an ANC member and Mashatile’s ex-girlfriend, filed criminal proceedings against Phapano Phasha last week after accusing him of intimidating and harassing her. last led to the ructions that were publicly displayed this week.
This comes after Phasha launched a social media campaign to support Mashatile against what she perceives to be a political offensive against the deputy president by people who seek to impede his move to succeed party president Cyril Ramaphosa and become South Africa’s top citizen.
@FonyokaPondoka took to his Twitter account to post the pictures and left this caption, “Lesson learnt from all these, stay away from slay queens.”
A lot of social media users believe that Mashatile’s demise may be due to his love of women. In what is believed to be a strategic attempt to coax ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula to be in her corner, Mbatha wrote a letter to him alerting him of the criminal case she had opened against Phasha.
