Twitch star Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek hit out at Star Wars: Battlefront 2 fans for being a “toxic” community as he tried to return following the skyrocketing player count.
Whenever game developers end support to one of their games, players will simply abandon it and never touch the game again, or modders will flood the scene to take over with ideas of their own.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 saw its dev support end back in 2020 after a three-year period and, for the most part, it has been pretty dormant ever since. Yet, following the second series of Andor coming to an end, many players have flocked back to it.
The game’s player count has skyrocketed, and it has become a little bit of a go-to for variety streamers on Twitch and YouTube. However, shroud isn’t sold on it after a “toxic” return to Battlefront 2.
Shroud unistalls Battlefront 2 after short return
Like many others, the former Counter-Strike star made his return to Battlefront 2 at the end of May, but it didn’t go all that well. So, he uninstalled the game rather swiftly.
“If you’re wondering how Battlefront 2 went: We could only play coop because the moment we played PvP, we were taken down by someone. So I uninstalled the game and probably won’t play it again,” shroud said, referring to servers being attacked and taken down.
“I didn’t realize that this community was so toxic, I didn’t realize it was being manipulated and controlled by whoever is doing this, which is unfortunate.”
The Twitch star noted that he had “fun” at times, but he was being “targeted” due to his status as a streamer. He also didn’t want to turn to third-party options for servers either, as that “doesn’t feel right.”
With the game having no dev support, the changes that shroud wants aren’t going to happen. Battlefront 2 will, no doubt, have a renaissance for a while yet though, just because of how rabid Star Wars fans are.
