Former Twitch star Reckful’s World of Warcraft account has been unbanned after 11 years, and one of his close friends went live to show it off.
On December 26, 2014, Byron ‘Reckful‘ Bernstein, who was known for live-streaming World of Warcraft on Twitch until he died in 2020, posted on Twitter/X that he was banned from the game permanently.
“Hello, after playing for 10 years I was permanently banned with no warning whatsoever. I would like to speak to someone please,” he said in the post.
Blizzard quickly responded with a claim that the account was being used to gain an in-game advantage, and the ban stayed in place.
That is, until June 2025, when Byron’s account was unbanned and given to Barry_74, who was a close friend of Reckful’s before his death. To celebrate, Barry fired up a stream of his own on Twitch to show off the legendary WoW account.

On June 14, Barry went live to show off Reckful’s Outlaw Rogue, Alignest, and explained why he decided to give fans a look at the account after nearly 11 years.
“I really was excited to show you guys this,” he said. “Because he meant a lot to me in my life, and I know I got to meet him and stuff like that. I know he meant so much to you guys, and I was really grateful I actually got to meet him and be friends with him. Like in person and hang out with him. Because think about that.
“Think about how many of you guys watched him and, me out of all of you guys, out of luck, because I was good at a video game, and I ran in and met the right people. I got to be really good friends with him. Like, I am so lucky and so grateful for that. You guys get that, right?”
For Reckful fans wanting to check out more of his Twitch content, the Amazon-owned platform has preserved his account and kept his stream VODs available for anyone to check out.
