Taking to his social media pages, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa has reminded Kenyans of the levels of intimidation he had to go through in the previous regime.
The vocal Kenya Kwanza Member of Parliament and the leader of Majority in the National Assembly reminded Kenyans of the levels of intimidation he had to go through in the previous regime which include, death threats, being stripped of his leadership roles in Parliament among other things.
In the tweet, Ichungwa reminded Kenyans of a statement he made 3 years ago after his fallout with the President claiming that no man is God, “If you think you will intimidate me with death, if you think you will intimidate me by removing me as chair of a committee or even recalling me as MP to change a stand I believe in. Please try another one.” Stated the tweet dated on the 17th of May 20202.
The reminder has led to mixed reactions with some celebrating the Majority leader for his bravery in the face of persecution during the previous regime. Kimani Ichungwa was one of the few members of Parliament from the Mt. Kenya who decided to remain loyal to President William Ruto who was then the Deputy President.
As a result of his loyalty, Ichungwa has become of the closest allies to President William Ruto being made the leader of Majority in the National Assembly.
The critics of the Majority leader also took advantage of the opportunity to fire at him for being extremely negative about the former President and always critiquing the former regime. See what Kenyans told the Majority Leader.
Mr Hortech: One day, you and your cohort will learn that uhuru was of so much importance than you thought…
Gichane: Fearless Kimani…A true son of the Mountain…
Wilson Rwamba: When will you stop congratulating yourself and get to work…
