The funeral service of former MP, David Waweru Ng’ethe, who is also father to Dagoretti South MP Hon John Kiarie, took place on Friday 19th at Kandara, Murang’a county. President William Ruto graced the event.
The event also brought together the leadership of Murang’a county, led by the area Governor, Irungu Kang’ata.
Despite having been elected on a UDA party ticket whose party leader is president William Ruto, Kang’ata did not shy away from telling the Head of State the truth.
In his speech, Kang’ata noted that counties are suffering due to delayed disbursements of funds from the exchequer. He asked the finance ministry to pull up their socks so that counties do not cripple due to starvation of funds.
“Your excellency we want to tell you that we are suffering in the counties due to late and irregular disbursement of funds. I understand we are having some problem with finances but we request for timely disbursements so that county services do not cripple,” noted the Governor. (Watch video from 1hr 58min).
The Murang’a Governor went ahead to explain the interventions his administration has taken to ensure that county services do not stall.
He also asked the president to ensure that the one man, one vote, one shilling financing model is implemented. Kang’ata asked Mt Kenya parliamentarians to keep pushing so that resources can follow the population. Kang’ata added that he started fighting for the model when he was serving in the Senate.
